On a personal note, I’ve been involved with the Roanoke Valley Preservation Foundation for many years, which has allowed me to put my interest in historic preservation to good use. At the young age of 17, I joined the Salem Rescue Squad as a volunteer EMS provider. I obtained my Paramedic certification, and continued that volunteer work for 17 years. I am now a life member of that organization. I maintained my local roots as I graduated from Roanoke College with a BA in Urban Studies. My local government service began as I was appointed a member of the City of Salem Industrial Development Authority, later the Roanoke Valley-Alleghany Regional Commission, and I currently serve as vice-chair of the Roanoke City Board of Zoning Appeals. I enjoy working in my community, and look forward to doing so for many years to come!
